Question:
My baby girl is eight months old and she has a squint in her right eye and its turning outwards. Kindly let me know if you have a remedy for this.

Answer:
Outward turning of the eyes is known as exotropia. In an 8 year old child if the deviation is causing symptoms such as double vision, covering or squinting an eye, or appearance of disinterest a careful refraction for nearsightedness needs to be performed. Assuming this is normal we typically offer surgical correction to improve the alignment.  If the symptoms are mild the children may be only monitored. In younger children patching is also used for some children.
